Sarcopenia is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by the neuro-motor decline of the organism with loss of muscle mass and strength, this process appears around the fourth decade of life, leading to a loss of muscle mass of 3-5% within 50 years with a trend that in about 40% of the subjects leads to halving the muscular heritage within 75 years of age. In Italy, sarcopenia has a significant socio-economic impact due to the average age of the population.
Regular physical activity and adequate nutrition are the guidelines, while new strategies are emerging that include the use of diet supplements and supplements.
